Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026. Plain language first, because that is what estimates are for.

1. What Permit Budget is

Permit Budget is a subscription data service for contractors and property investors. You enter a project scope and receive a renovation cost estimate grounded in actual permit filing data, with per-trade breakdowns and the permit counts behind each number.

Plans: Estimator at $49/month or $490/year (two months free): unlimited estimates, 1 market, trade-by-trade permit-data cost breakdowns. Pro at $129/month or $1,290/year (two months free): up to 5 markets, everything in Estimator, plus historical cost trends, bid-ready PDF exports, API access, and priority support.

2. Planning-grade estimates only

A Permit Budget estimate is a planning-grade number built from aggregated permit valuations. It is not a bid, not a quote, and not a substitute for pricing from a licensed contractor who has walked the job. Use it to sanity-check a bid, underwrite a deal, or budget a capital plan, then get real numbers before you sign anything.

Permit Budget does not provide legal, compliance, engineering, or contracting advice. Nothing on the service creates a professional or contractual relationship with you beyond this agreement.

3. Subscription billing

Plans are billed in advance: monthly plans renew each month, annual plans renew each year. Prices are in USD. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. Canceling stops future charges; you keep access through the end of the paid period.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe; your card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our systems.

4. Refunds and cancellation

Monthly plans: cancel anytime from your account settings or by emailing hello@permitbudget.com. There is no refund for time already billed, but you keep access through the end of the paid month.

Annual plans: if the service does not earn its keep, email hello@permitbudget.com within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. No forms, no hassle. Refunds go back to your original payment method and usually arrive within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. After 30 days there is no refund, but you keep access through the end of the paid year. The full process is described on our refund policy page.

5. License

Your subscription is a license for your own use. You may use estimates and PDF exports in your bidding and underwriting work. You may not resell or redistribute access to the service, publish the underlying dataset, or use the API outside its documented terms. Pro API access is subject to reasonable rate limits we may adjust with notice.

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials private.

6. Coverage and limits

Estimates are only served where permit data coverage passes our accuracy gate. Thin-coverage markets and trades are not sold: the service says so rather than guessing. We make no promise that an estimate will match your actual project cost, and we do not guarantee market coverage, uptime, or any particular estimate result.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Altshuler Family Holdings LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, including losses from bids priced or deals underwritten using our estimates. Total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Operator and payments

Permit Budget is operated by Altshuler Family Holdings LLC. Charges appear as ALTSHULER FAMILY HOLDINGS on your card statement. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs your purchase. We will notify active subscribers of material changes before they take effect.
